Description
This set includes 5 small square plates:
- Carps design, shape of a torii
- Pine design, Japanese character 大
- Gourd design, Japanese character 妙
- Tortule shells design, Japanese character 法
- Stone garden design, shape of a boat
This set was created last year, when the festival Gozan no okuribi, which usually takes place every August in Kyoto, was cancelled due to COVID-19. On each plate is a bump representing the mountains of Kyoto, and on each one of them is written a Japanese characters. It reminds us of the peak of the festivities, when firewoods arranged in the shape of kanji characters are set on fire, on top of the mountains around Kyoto.
This set comes in a beautiful box.

Uragu is a tiny shop, hidden in the back streets of Miyagawacho, one of Kyoto’s geisha districts. There, you can find beautiful products with clean designs carefully thought out by the designer of the store and inspired by Japanese folklore.
